Black Knight Vineyards, Cellars and Vacation Rental

Vineyards The Vineyards at Black Knight are scattered across this Mountain Top. Of the 60 acres a little over 30 acres are planted to vineyard. Due to the steep and complex location, there are at least 20 different microclimates. We have planted 5 different clones of Chardonnay and 7 clones of Pinot Noir. Combine that with the microclimates, we have hundreds of variables to consider while farming. On the positive side the hundreds of variables also provide for a rich diversity of grapes and the wines they make. Our soils are very rocky and many of the vineyard blocks are steep. Tough volcanic soils encourage the vines to put a top priority in the fruit production. Running through the property is the Rogers Creek Fault. This fault threw up a fantastic rocky ridge completely different from the soils on the majority of the rest of the property. It was very difficult but we managed to plant the top of the ridge.

Mountain Top Cottage Make your visit a special one. Why stay at a hotel or home when you can enjoy the complete Vineyard experience. Our 3 bedroom, 2 Bath cottage has the prime spot on the property. It is private, secluded and has a view of the vineyards in one direction and the entire Valley to the west towards the ocean. We are often above the clouds and enjoy a world very few others ever get to experience.

Wines Black Knight Cellars makes a line of high end Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Merlot. All are from the farm. Our first label is a 2012 Chardonnay called Fault Line. It has won a Gold Medal with 96 pts against the best of California North Coast.
